1. Definition of Child Safety
Child Safety involves protecting children and teenagers from exploitation, preventing child sexual abuse material (CSAE and CSAM), and preventing criminal conduct such as bullying, stalking, manipulation, and other unlawful actions.
For this reason, we also understand that children and young people should not use apps focused on interpersonal relationships, so they can focus on their full school and social development. We have a zero-tolerance policy for users under 18.
2. Prohibition on Use by Minors
Koit is a platform exclusively for people over 18. Registration, use, download, access, or testing of the app by minors is strictly prohibited.
3. Prohibition on Recording Data Related to Minors
Koit is a platform exclusively for people over 18. Registration, use, and storage of notes, images, records, and information of any kind about minors is strictly prohibited.
This prohibition also applies when the person was a minor at the time of the recorded note, even if they are no longer a minor today. Stored information about periods when a person was underage is prohibited.
4. Reporting Requests
We ask users to stay alert to suspicious behavior. Do not stay silent: report it. Examples that should be reported immediately include:
- Adults who mention that they use Koit and/or go on dates with minors.
- People under 18 whom you heard or suspect are using the Koit platform.
- Other similar cases, whether they are only suspicions or certainties.
We provide an anonymous reporting form at Privacy & Transparency or by email at legal@koitapp.com. We prefer to receive a report that later proves unfounded than not to be notified. Users may choose whether to identify themselves, although identification may be critical to continuing the investigation.
5. Technical Barriers
We adopt technical measures to prevent access by minors, including:
- Instructing Google Play Store and Apple App Store that the app is not suitable for users under 18, and requesting, where possible, that Koit not be shown in searches by young people in those app stores.
- Double confirmation during registration to accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, with emphasis on the user’s age.
- Explicit request for date of birth during registration.
- In addition to technical barriers, continuous work to find new ways to reduce engagement by this audience, such as not including them in social media marketing campaigns.
6. Review and Data Deletion Practices
When we receive a report or identify irregular activity, we follow strict protocols, which include, but are not limited to:
- Auditing the user’s engagement on the platform to collect evidence.
- Immediate blocking of the account involved.
- Sending a dossier to competent authorities, including the Public Prosecutor’s Office and Federal Police, if necessary.
- With prior authorization from the police body and/or competent authority, complete deletion of data associated with the minor, as required by law.
7. Emergencies
In case of imminent risk to a person’s physical or psychological integrity, regardless of age, immediately call the local emergency number or contact the competent local authorities.
